The “Early Education” programme aims to:
- Prepare children for a happy, healthy, responsible, and successful life
- Develop their personalities and abilities
- Support the development of their learning potential
- Foster respect for others and the environment
- Teach them to respect and appreciate their own culture, identity, and values, as well as those of others
- Promote a European spirit
The Early Education programme is a fundamental part of lifelong education and training. Its central role is to support children’s development so that they become responsible and ethically aware members of society. Learning in the early years aims to guide and support children in their physical, physiological, social, cognitive, and emotional development, while preventing potential difficulties by providing the best possible learning conditions.
Teaching and learning in the early years follow a holistic approach, where different subjects are not taught in isolation. Self-esteem is a strong and healthy driver in a child’s development. It is nurtured through positive learning experiences and a wide range of interactions with others. Children’s experiential world should be enriched and supported through activities that encourage exploration and the discovery of new interests.
